Consumers everywhere are clamoring for green construction. These building processes are not only environmentally friendly but they also help to reduce future energy costs. Excel Homes is proud to be a part of the movement through our partnership with the ENERGY STAR® program.

When you partner with Excel, you can be assured that you are getting an experienced partner who will help you give your customers the ENERGY STAR certified features that they desire. Our state-of-the-art factory process and skilled craftsmen build modules that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR guidelines, resulting in much tighter houses than those built on-site. In fact, Excel homes operate at least 15 percent more efficiently than a standard home. We also offer many creative options that are ENERGY STAR rated so you can build your customers the home of their dreams.

Excel Homes’ ENERGY STAR standard offerings

Excel’s standard package delivers many features that meet national ENERGY STAR guidelines. Additional ENERGY STAR-certified items may be added to provide enhanced energy efficiency and savings to the builder and consumer. Products that are outside of this standard offering can be special ordered if the consumer would like them in their new home. 1. WALLS
  • All common walls between modules are protected with a high quality gasketing system to provide an increased airtight seal between boxes.
  • All exterior walls forming the thermal envelope are fully caulked at mating points to completely seal out air flow in accordance with the national ENERGY STAR requirements.
  • All other penetrations of the thermal envelope such as wire ways and chases are fully caulked in accordance with the ENERGY STAR requirements.
  • All wall insulation provides full six-sided contact with no voids at wire, plumbing, blocking, etc. Insulation R value to be specified on order.

Contacting your local Home Energy Rater for a plan review is one way to start the ENERGY STAR certification process. Find a Home Energy Rater or join the ENERGY STAR team.

A New Hassle Free Option for Certification

Now there’s an easier way to ensure you’re building an ENERGY STAR® home. Excel’s optional Certified Energy Raters (CER) package takes the hassle out of the strict testing and rating service process. You’ll gain recognition as an energy performance builder and may qualify for the $2,000 federal energy tax credit. Your customers will get the ENERGY STAR® certified home of their dreams.

The Excel Certified Energy Raters Package is your turnkey solution:

  • Certified Energy Raters reviews plans to ensure the entire home will meet ENERGY STAR® ratings.
  • Home is tested at the Excel plant and given ENERGY STAR® gray label certification.
  • On-site test is conducted and home receives official ENERGY STAR® blue label.
  • Certified Energy Raters issues an official performance report to the National Association of Home Builders, ENERGY STAR®, the builder and homeowner.
